The car came to a large parking complex, the hefty Chrysler pulled up to a door that said 'Employee's Only' on it. Neyght and the other men got out, so instictively Feng followed them. Neyght opened the door. "Once you go through this door, you dont exist anymore." Feng nodded, "I want to see this for my self." He walked through the door first, into a stark white room with a black man sitting in a booth. "You boys going back to the Second Layer? Ill get your pods ready. And we got a new one?" Neyght nodded, "Meet Feng, our newest whitey." Feng gave him an accusing 'hey', Neyght looked down at him, "Its just a rank, white is the lowest rank, black is the highest." The black man laughed, "Bout damn time!"

Feng laid down on the table. The light of the room made him nascious, and there was no one else there. "Hey Neyght, whats going to happen?" Neyght was on the table next to him, "Were going to die, and our bodies are going to be saved incase we need to come back." Feng was really calm for some one who was going to 'die'. Neyght closed his eyes, and sighed, "its sickening the first time, like jumping out of an airplane, you'll probably hurl when you get there." The black came into the room and walked up to Feng, "First times the best...you'll love it." He tapped the joint of his forearm and his bicept, looking for the vein. He found the vein and pulled the lid off of a hypodermic needle, and injected a dark black fluid into fengs arm. "It'll be just like falling asleep."

Feng sprung out of his sleep and vomited every bit of stomach fluid he had. He looked at his hand then felt his head. He jumped off the tabled and threw up some more, screaming for help. "Hey Hey Hey!" He heard a soft female voice behind him. He turned and grabbed the girl's shoulders and threw up on her chest. "Great!" She said sarcastically. "Lay down and inhale this, it'll stop the vertigo." Feng shakily grabbed the inhaler, and sucked it dry. He sat back on the table, looking at his feet, they felt like they were miles away. He felt a soft hand pat his cheek. "You're going to be ok?" He looked at the girl, she was about five-foot-three, had brown hair, blue eyes, and a small round nose, with a little mouth, but a big smile. She had a blue fuzzy cap on, with two strings dangling from it. She also had a tan coat with a 'parka' style fuzz on the hood, and a mid thigh denim skrt, with a zipper on the side. She repeated her past question, "Are you going to be ok?" He snapped out of his short daze and looked down at her C sized chest. "Yeah...im better now. Im geuss im doing pretty well for a guy who just died." He looked at her fuzzy cap, and chuckled, "You can speak Japanese?" She shook her head, "All languages are the same on the Second Layer, im actually speaking German, something about being in the so called 'afterlife' changes your vocal chords, everyone speaks the same language. Nice to meet you. My names Zoe, Zoe Ohenheim." She held a hand out to him, he shakily took it and shook it. "Ok then, my names Feng." She looked at him strangely, "No surname?" He shrugged, he was an orphan, so he didnt know his surname. "So...whats next?" Feng inquired with a polite tone. "You should rest, if you want you can go and get something to eat in the cafeteria." Feng was baffled at the thought of eating after death, but he felt very much alive. "Am i dreaming? Am i going to wake up and laugh this off?" Zoe shook her head with a frown, "Thats what i thought, along time ago."  Feng nodded, "How old are you?" He prodded for a little more information, she wasn't below a seven, and he wasnt insane anymore, so he might as well try to pick up on some chick might as well start with the first one he sees. "I technically just turned eighteen, but i 'died' when i was fourteen, so im always going to look this way. Unless i go back some time soon." Feng smiled, "Then lets hope ill always be seventeen." She giggled and waved as she left the room.

The front lobby was big, with a couple of benches and topiaries. A bulletin board covered an entire wall. There was a sleek round desk where two secretaries took in incoming phone calls. Feng was still in his school uniform, some how. He didnt know why when he 'died', his clothes didnt change. Feng wandered the Lobby, looking and feeling the plants, wondering if plants lived and died as we did, if a Deity could form from deforestation. He chuckled at his own percieved concept. He heard soft sniffles coming from a small girl leaning her head against her knees on the floor behind him. He walked up the her and sat down next to her, with his legs crossed, facing right at her. "Whats wrong?" He bluntly asked her. "You have a tough time...dying?" She looked at him, then nodded. She was small, frail looking. She had a black bob cut, brown eyes and a very round face, she had those puppy dog eyes that were always cute, even if she were sad or angry. "My...mother," She had to tried her best to form even a single word. She felt Feng's hand on her shoulder. Normally she would take it as unwanted contact, but she felt something different. "Take your time, the more you talk about it, the better it gets. This applies to everything. Volcalization is the pathway to restoration." Thats what his shrink would always tell him. "My mother...was killed by...a Deity. I geuss thats what happened. I had never seen one of them in my life until it killed my mom. It was huge. it looked like a..." There was a long drawn out pause, like she was searching her head for a word that could describe what that thing was. "Like a demonic wolf. It had this things flowing off of its head, and this strange black fog coming off of it. And its." Feng interuppted her. "Red eyes and claws?" She looked at him, "Did one attack you too?" He shook his head, "ive seen them all my life, these big wolf Deities, ive seen them all my life, but theve never attacked me." Another tear strolled down her cheek, pass her square nerdy looking reading glasses, but it was stop stopped by Fengs finger, wiping off the tear. "Youre here now for some reason. Good or bad you just have to play the cards life dealt you."

Two men walked into the lobby, one a medium hiegth oriental fellow, with a shaved head that had a particular shine on the brow. The Oriental Fellow had a wash cloth around his neck, like he just got out of the shower. The second man was a large man, a beast of a man by size only. He had light brown hair, that ran down barely past his green eyes. He had a hat with tiny trinkets coming off of it, including a feather. " Let me introduce us both, I am Lieutenet Muchiro Asagi, of the Third Squad. This is Logan, no last name, he's the Lieutenet of the 7th squad. You have either been in close contact with a Deity, or you or someone close to you has been attacked by one. You are now part of whatever you want to call our little group of people. We all had a tough time getting here, and it doesnt get easier, but whatever doesnt kill you again makes you stronger." The girl buried her head into her knees again, Feng looked up at the man with the shiny head. The man looked back down at him, then at her. He leaned his head over to Logans, "The girls havin a tough time, you should take her, ill take the boy." Feng jumped up in protest, "What are you guys planning?" He gave them a resentful glare. "Planning? We dont do any planning." Muchiro held his hand out to Feng, "Welcome to The Club..." Feng was suprised, and he looked down at the girl. "Is she going to be ok?" Logan looked at him with eyes full of pity, "Some dont make it, pyschologically, but she should be fine." She muttered something, Feng turned to her in a huh fashion. "My name is Brenna, Brenna Rose."

The Complex was pretty big, about the size of a large high school. Feng was getting situated with Muchiro, he was his new boss after all. There were other complexes too, all over The Second Layer. The Second Layer had no water, because there was no real 'life' there. There were maps of earth splayed over maps of The Second Layer, showing the differnce in the two, and 'points' where deities here highest in number. That current highest spot is in China. "So youre from Okawa? I was born in Tokyo, in a resturaunt." Muchiro bragged, "I was the best chef in Japan until i was attacked. It was a Jackal Deity." Feng looked at him with amusment, to Feng it was like getting a museum tour about life. "So kid, how'd you get in this mess." Feng smiled, "I was born seeing them." Muchiro stopped and looked at him, "No way, your one of those genuine ones?" Feng shrugged, "I dont know, whats a 'genuine one'" He said immitating his tone. "A genuine one is one born with the ability to see Deities, you, and only twelve operatives in total have been Gennies. Most people are attacked by them, and several like Brenna witness the death of a loved one...poor kid." Feng looked at Muchiro. "Are you bald because of the Deity? Or is it genetic?" Muchiro stopped again and pointed a finger at Fengs nose to establish dominance, "Im not bald. I shave my head, theres a huge difference. Dont call me bald again. Ever." Feng nodded, and they continued down the glossy 'dojo' like complex. "Here my friend, is the armory, the armory is were you get your weapon." Feng looked at him with his blank naive stare. "Only one weapon? Youd think youd need more than one." Muchiro gently backhanded him, "When you get your first weapon, you grow, you train and become a better fighter, and your weapon gets stronger with each Deity released." Feng nodded, "its like killing enemies in a video game." Muchiro shrugged, "You dont feel pain in a video game."

The armory was blank, about fifty square feet of nothing, and a rack of swords, guns, bows, spears, every weapon imaginable. "This is how it works, you take a weapon, see if it works, and if it doesnt, try another, until you find one." Feng nodded and picked up a sword, a chinese sword with the character 'dragon' on the tip of the blade, "What if i cant find one?" Muchiro shrugged and hit a button, the hole room filled with a green fog, it didnt effect Feng at all, but it hindered his vision a bit. He looked into the fog and saw two diamond shape eyes, glowing the deepest red he had ever seen. "Um… Muchiro? What happens if i dont find my weapon?" He was starting to get scared. He heard a snarling beyond the fog, the eyes got brighter and there was a black shape starting to form. It looked like that of a large wolf, like the kind that Brenna was talking about. "MUCHIRO?!" He yelled as he saw the Deity leap towards him, he stabbed at it and didnt leave a scratch, quite frankly the sword went right through it without leaving a mark, or actually slicing it. The deity he killed was only the size of his forearm, this one mustve been the size of a sedan. "Shit not this one." He said as he threw the sword to the ground. "Oh my god!" He yelped as he ducked under the next lunge. The Deity paced around him, oozing green slime from its mouth, the green running in between the black maw and the red teeth. Feng grabbed a spear of the rack and chucked it at the Deity, it made no contact. "GOD DAMNIT!" He squawked as the Deity swiped at him with its giant claw. He pulled a 32.Pistol off the rack and aimed it at the Deity, he fired all but one shot, each one missing, before he was knocked to the floor. The drooling Deity putting its claw on his chest, pushing down on his lungs. "MUChiro!!" His face was turning red, his gums felt like they were going to rip open. The Deity opened its mouth and reared its head back, Feng held his arm forward trying to stop it, his hand felt it the bones were disappearing, and his hole hand turned black, with red tips. The Deity bit down, as feng thrusted his hand forward, his hand going into the Deities skull, and grabbing what felt like a brain. The Deity let a horrible scream and keeled over, leaking green and yellow gasses from his body. "MUCHIRO!" He coughed as he held his chest. Muchiro rushed in and looked at his hand. "What the hell is on your hand? What weapon is that?" Feng looked up at him, his face red and sweaty, like he had just given birth. "Its not any weapon on the rack, its my arm."
